BOFFMAW Brand Story
When people first discover BOFFMAW, they often smile and ask: Why are there so many animals “biting” our feet?
Because we want to create more than an amusing pair of socks.
When a giraffe, camel, owl, or whale gently wraps around your foot, we hope you see more than its charming appearance. We hope you begin to wonder:
Where does this animal live?
What is happening to it?
And what can we do to help?
01. Bringing Distant Animals Into Everyday Life
The stories of wild animals can feel far removed from our daily lives. We may see them in a documentary or briefly encounter them in the news, but everyday life quickly moves on. As a result, the challenges many animals face can quietly disappear from public attention.
Giraffes: Familiar Does Not Mean Safe

This does not mean giraffe numbers fall by the same percentage every year. Conservation efforts have helped some populations recover in recent years. Nevertheless, habitat loss, fragmented landscapes, infrastructure development, and illegal hunting continue to threaten them.
Their decline has sometimes been described as a “silent extinction.” Giraffes are so familiar and iconic that many people never imagined they could gradually disappear from places where they once lived.

Egypt’s Camels: What Tourism Can Hide

We do not share this story to place a simplistic label on a country or its people. We share it because we believe travellers and consumers should be willing to ask: Is our moment of enjoyment coming at the cost of an animal’s suffering?

Crocodiles: When a Living Pattern Becomes a Luxury Material
Crocodilian skins have long been used to make luxury handbags, shoes, belts, and other fashion accessories. In the past, uncontrolled exploitation caused serious declines in a number of crocodilian populations. A living animal could be reduced to a pattern, a texture, and finally a product.Today, international trade in crocodilian skins is regulated through CITES, and well-managed, traceable programs have helped some populations recover. But regulation does not make every supply chain equal. Animal welfare, legal sourcing, transparent records, and the protection of wild habitats still matter.
For BOFFMAW, the crocodile should first be seen as a living animal—not merely as a material. Our knitted crocodile is playful, but the question behind it is serious: Before we admire the pattern, can we remember the life that originally wore it?

We want animals to become more than distant names. We want them to be seen, remembered, and cared about as living beings.
When a giraffe embraces your foot or a camel accompanies you through the day, we hope that small moment of companionship creates a connection between you and the animal.
A pair of socks may not change the world overnight, but it can begin a conversation. A conversation can inspire someone to learn about an animal—and meaningful protection often begins with understanding.
02. Interesting People Recognize One Another

BOFFMAW is not quite like an ordinary sock. Most socks are designed to disappear. Ours are designed to be noticed.
The animal’s mouth opens around the cuff, while its face, body, and natural textures follow the shape of the foot. When you put the sock on, the animal is no longer a flat image printed on fabric. It appears to come alive and gently “bite” your foot.
It is a little unexpected, a little playful, and often impossible to ignore.
I take life seriously—but I have not forgotten how to have fun.
BOFFMAW is an easy, joyful form of self-expression. It can start a conversation, become an unexpected gift, or simply remain a private joke that brightens your own day. Interesting people often recognize one another through small signals like these.
03. Every Pair Begins With an Original Design
The final idea may look simple and playful, but creating it is anything but simple.
Every BOFFMAW animal begins with observation. We study the shape of its head, its expression, the way its mouth opens, the texture of its fur or feathers, and the posture that best represents its personality. We then sketch and revise repeatedly, searching for a way to make the animal’s body work naturally with the shape of the human foot.

We value originality because every pair carries the designer’s time, judgement, and emotion. We are not simply changing a colour or replacing one animal name with another. We want the owl to possess its quiet wisdom, the camel its resilience, the giraffe its gentle curiosity, and the dinosaur its untamed sense of play.
Every pair deserves its own personality—and its own story.
Wear an Animal. Remember Its Story.
That is why BOFFMAW creates so many animal socks that “bite” your feet.
We want them to be playful enough to make you smile at first sight. But after that first smile, we hope they encourage you to learn a little more about the animal you are wearing.
They are not merely decorations knitted onto socks. They are small messengers from nature, connections between people and animals, and letters written by our designers in yarn.
When you wear BOFFMAW, we hope you carry more than a pair of socks. We hope you carry an animal’s personality, a story worth hearing, and the kindness to care about the world we share.
Wear their story. Walk with nature.
